This is a Fully fab 4 Inch thick wall .085 6061 aluminum pipe.

One 5 ply silicon boot that is rated for heat, cold, boost, and suction.

Questions 1

What about taking in "hot air" 

Answer 1

Well first how many diesel race truck you see with out side cold air? Few to none. The turbo compresses the air "heating it up"  that's why you have Intercooler to chill the air down. Next when you have less restriction to the turbo you have faster spooling, less restriction lets the air into the turbo have less chance to heat up, faster spool up with less restrictions then drop the Compressed air to the intercooler letting the job of the intercooler to be more efficient!

What about "Dirty bay air"

Well that's what the job of the air filter is for. Better filters that flow more but clean more will be the aid. If you really break down the design you still flow lots of outside air into the filter directly as factory. Now once again just like factory, the environment of where you drive will just dictate how fast the filer gets dirty and needs to be cleaned. We also have pre filters from stainless diesel that help with filter life!
